Helen F. Ridgeway, 94, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 15, 2011 at Daughters of Sarah Nursing home surrounded by her loving family. Helen was born in Center Rutland, VT. to the late William and Agatha (Kraus) Faryniarz. Helen attended and graduated from Fair Haven School, Albany and continued her education at Albany Business College and onto Burroughs Business School. She was employed at City and County Savings Bank for over 28 years until she retired in 1983 as a bookkeeper and then computer operator. Helen was a member of the Banking association for women, St. Patrick's Parish, St. Francis Parish, Blessed Sacrament parish and the United Ostomy association. She was also a member of the Pinehaven country club, and an avid golfer, scoring a hole in one at Pinehaven. She was an avid bowler, and was a member of the woman's international bowling association for many years. She enjoyed playing cards weekly with friends and family, and loved to travel. In addition to her parents, Helen was predeceased by her loving husband, Samuel Kenneth Ridgeway, her granddaughter, Lynne Marie Ridgeway and her siblings; Henry, Louis, John, Julia, Mary, Frank, Sophie and Joseph.
Helen is survived by her beloved son, David Joseph Ridgeway, Sr. of Albany. She is the cherished grandmother of, David Joseph Ridgeway, Jr. of Troy, loving great-grandmother of, Jennifer Lynne, Jeffrey Michael, Isabelle Haley and Jaclyn Sarah, she is the sister of Frances and Stanley. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews.
Funeral services will be at 8 am on Friday at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, Colonie then to Blessed Sacrament Church where a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 9 am. Calling hours will be Thursday from 4 to 7 at the funeral home. Interment will follow the Mass at Memory Gardens.
