Helen I. Dalbey

d. June 2, 2008

COLONIE – Helen I. Dalbey, 86, passed away peacefully at her new home in Troy on Monday, June 2, 2008.
Helen was born in Ballston Spa, NY on November 21, 1921 and was the daughter of the late Harry J. and Mary (Keyser) Goodwin and the wife of 50 years to the late Walter Dalbey. Helen married Walt in 1942 and they lived in Ballston Spa until moving to Schuylerville in the early 1950's. Helen was very active in the Quaker Springs Methodist Church and was the Superintendent of Sunday School for many years.
In the late 1970's, Helen and Walt moved to Ballston Spa and had many happy years together before Walt died. They celebrated their marriage and 50th wedding anniversary at 11 Saratoga Avenue.
Helen had worked for Ballston Knitting Mill and the NYS Department of Taxation. For the past nine years, Helen has lived in Colonie with her daughter Faith. While living in Colonie, Helen became very good friends with Kathy, John and Mike – she considered them part of her family.
This past April, Helen moved with Faith to Troy and was truly enjoying her new home and neighbors before the Lord peacefully took her home. Helen was a lady with a big heart, who loved her family immensely, and was always there for them. She was especially instrumental with guiding her four grandchildren whom she loved dearly. She will be greatly missed by all who loved her.
Helen is survived by her son, Harry Dalbey and his wife Judy; her daughter, Faith Hoffman and her companion Harry Holoduek; her grandchildren, Jeffrey (Daphne) Dalbey, Michael (Chinara) Peroha, Lisa (Joseph) Zelezniak and Tanya (Pete) Taylor; her great-grandchildren, Ryan Dalbey, Mackenzie, Zackray and Brady Taylor, and Raushan, Jasmine and Lily Peroha; her sisters, Ruth (Wilbur) Kinns and Shirley Hayes; her sisters-in-law, Rita Goodwin and Mabel Dalbey; her brother-in-law, Harold Haley and numerous nieces and nephews especially Pal Dalbey. She was predeceased by her brother, Frank and Harold Goodwin.
Funeral services will be held at 12 noon Saturday at New Comer-Cannon Family Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave.). A calling hour will precede the service from 11 a.m. to 12 noon at the funeral home. Interment will be in Memory's Garden in Colonie.
