COLONIE_Helen J. Lawless, 82, passed away peacefully on February 1, 2016 with her family by her side.
She was born on April 9, 1933 to the late Marcus and Helen (Van Wormer) Rolfe in Schenectady. In 1953 she married, John E. Lawless. Helen graduated from Mt. Plesant High school and went on to earn her Associates Degree from Albany Business College. She and her husband John raised their 5 children in Colonie. She worked for Sears as a supervisor in the home improvement department for 23 years. Most recently Helen was an avid reader and enjoyed playing computer games. During her younger years, she enjoyed bowling and was a member of a local bowling league, vacationing in NJ, visiting casinos with her husband, watching movies and traveling.
She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and will be greatly missed.
Helen is survived by her loving children, John P. Lawless, Richard (Sharon) Lawless, Steven Lawless, Robert (Pam) Lawless, Leslie H. Holman; grandchildren, Jamie (Ron) , Steven (Caillin), Ethan and Dylan Lawless, Michael (Tanya) and Kristopher (Kelly) Lawless, Ryan Lawless and Lawrence Holman; several great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, William (Maria) Lawless; a special cousin, Doris (Marty) Blazy and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She was predeceased in death by her beloved husband of 47 years, John E. Lawless, a sister, Betty; her brother Marcus; brothers-in-law, Michael, Alfred, Charles, Joseph; sisters-in-law, Elizabeth, Rose, Agnes; her father and mother-in-law, Michael Lawless Sr. and Martha LaHoud Lawless and a nephew, Kevin Lawless
Visitation will be held Tuesday, February 9, 2016 from 4-7 pm at New Comer Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Albany, NY 12205. A funeral service for Helen will be held on Wednesday, February 10, 2016 at 10 am at the New Comer Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held immediately following funeral services at Evergreen Memorial Park.
Helen's family would like to thank Saratoga Hospital and the wonderful staff on the third floor for the excellent care Helen received during this difficult time.
