COLONIE – Helen J. Smith, 83, passed away on Wednesday, June 16, 2010 at St. Peter's Hospital after a brief illness.
Helen was born on August 13, 1926 in Cohoes and was the daughter of the late Adalbert and Sofia (Goriecki) Wyzykowski. She enjoyed traveling and vacationing in Maine with her husband and family. She especially enjoyed spending the holidays with her family.
Helen is survived by her children, Thomas E. (Sandra) Smith of Saratoga Springs, Timothy E. (Nancy) Smith of Ballston Lake and Diane M. (Walter) Klaas of Latham; seven grandchildren; two great-grandsons and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband of 59 years, Edward L. Smith; her brother, Henry Wyzykowski; and her sisters, Mary Wojcik, Ann Gagnon and Josephine Kennedy.
Funeral services will be held at 7:45 a.m. Monday at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave.) then to St. Michael's Church, 20 Page Ave. Cohoes, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:00 a.m. Interment will follow at St. Michael's Cemetery in Waterford. Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
