Helen J. Wieland

WEST SAND LAKE – Helen J. Wieland, 79, passed away on Friday, October 25, 2013 surrounded by her loving family. Born in Binghamton, NY, she was the daughter of the late Jesse and Gladys Baxter. Helen lived most of her life in Selkirk. She worked as a nurses' aide for many years before her retirement at Good Samaritan Nursing Home. Helen devoted her life to caring for others. She enjoyed bingo, playing cards, watching soap operas and canning her own food. Helen especially loved cooking and spending time with her family.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her beloved husband of forty-three years, Frederick M. Wieland Sr. Helen is the devoted mother of Stephen (Nancy) Wieland Sr., Brenda (Mike) Wierzbicki, Darlene Wieland and Frederick Wieland Jr. She is the cherished grandmother of Stephen Jr., Frederick III, Heather and Spencer. Also surviving is her great-grandson, Joshua.


Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Wednesday from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave). A graveside service will be held on Thursday at 10:00 a.m. in Calvary Cemetery, Glenmont. Memorial contributions may be made to Community Hospice of Albany, 445 New Karner Rd., Albany, NY 12205 in memory of Helen J. Wieland.
