Cohoes – Helen James passed away peacefully on January 22, 2022 at the Eddy Village Green in Cohoes. Helen recently celebrated her 100th birthday.
Born in Glenmont on October 28, 1921 she was the daughter of the late Adalbert and Sophie Buda. She is survived by her only daughter, Linda Turriglio Rhoads (James G), and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Arthur L James, her five siblings, one nephew, her son-in-law, and her sister-in-law and partner in crime.
Helen worked for many years at Nelligan's Bakery in Troy. She enjoyed camping with her husband at Alpine Lake Campgrounds, playing bingo, working on puzzles, and reading. She was always up for an adventure and enjoyed watching her "fur grandchildren" whenever possible. Helen could be found chopping vegetables, making cookies and dog biscuits at her daughter and son-in-law's deli when she was in her 90's
The family would like to thank the Eddy Village Green for taking excellent care of Helen these past four years. She enjoyed her time there and made many friends.
Friends are invited to call at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 181 Troy Schenectady Rd, Watervliet, NY 12189 on Friday, January 28, 2022 from 9:00 am to 11:00 am. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at St. Michael's Church, 20 Page Avenue, Cohoes, NY 12047 at noon. Interment will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery in Troy.
