COLONIE, NY – Helen M. Dutcher, 83, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, March 29, 2011. Born in Albany, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Catherine Newcomb. Helen lived in Colonie for most of her life. She worked for New York State Dept. of Civil Service before her retirement. Helen was a long time member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church where at one time she taught Sunday school. She also enjoyed attending Senior Citizens luncheons at the church. Helen especially loved vacationing in Cape Cod and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is the beloved mother of Kathleen M. (David) Cyr and Michele M. Dutcher, all of Colonie and Lester A. (Ginger) Dutcher of Averill Park. Helen is the cherished grandmother of David J. (Diane) Cyr Jr., Ruthann M. (Jason) Coombs and Rebecca R. (Jonathan) Roe. She is the loving great-grandmother of Logan, Sydney, Hayden, Elijah, Wyatt and Morgan. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews. Helen was predeceased by her siblings; Oliver and William Newcomb, Mable Ford and LeRoy Newcomb.
Funeral services will be Monday morning at 10:00 a.m. at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave). Calling hours will be Sunday from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, Colonie. Memorial contributions may be made to Our Savior's Lutheran Church, 68 Mountainview Ave., Albany, NY 12205 in memory of Helen M. Dutcher.
