Colonie- Helen D. Morgan, 100, passed away peacefully on March 25, 2018 at Evergreen Commons in East Greenbush. The daughter of the late Alexander and Florence (Novack) Sokol, Helen was born on September 2, 1917 in Albany, NY. Helen attended Cathedral Academy School in Albany, where she won an award for perfect attendance from kindergarten through graduation.
She retired from New York State after 25 years of service with the Labor Department. Helen was married to the love of her life Ernest M. "Spike" Morgan, for 78 years. He predeceased her in 2017.
Helen loved to travel, sing and was an excellent baker and known for her Seven Layer Torte.
She will be forever missed by her daughter Jan Morgan; son, Bill Morgan; daughter-in-law, Louise Kuziomko and grandson, Dan Morgan.
In addition to her parents and loving husband, Helen was predeceased by her five siblings.
Helen's family wishes to express their gratitude to the staff of the East Greenbush Unit at Evergreen Commons for their professionalism and compassionate care provided to Helen during a difficult time.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, April 4, 2018 at 10:00 am at Historic St. Mary's Church on Capitol Hill, 10 Lodge St., Albany, NY 12207. Friends and family are invited to share condolences from 9-10 am prior to Mass. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Glenmont.
