Helen Marion Morrissey

Helen Marion Morrissey, 81, died on May 30, 2021 at The Grand Rehabilitation and Nursing at Barnwell in Valatie, New York after an extended illness.

Helen was born September 27, 1939 in Troy, New York and lived in the area most of her life. She attended St. Patrick's Elementary School and Catholic Central High School. She worked for a while at the telephone company and then decided to follow in the footsteps of her two oldest sisters and became a nurse. She graduated from St. Luke's Hospital School of Nursing in Pittsfield, Massachusetts in 1963. She received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree in 1976. Over the years she worked at the Leonard Hospital and Seton Health in Troy, and Albany Memorial Hospital.

She is survived by three sisters: Anna Karpiak from Plainview, New York, Eleanor Rafn from Minneapolis, Minnesota and Janet Morrissey of Mystic, Connecticut, many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Her brothers Arthur and Francis and her sisters Rachel Cuomo (Sal) and Josephine Schwarz (Anton) predeceased her.

Calling hours will be held at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 181 Troy Schenectady Rd., Watervliet, New York on Tuesday, June 8, 2021 from 10:00am to 10:30am with a funeral ceremony to immediately follow at 10:30am. Burial will follow the service at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
