Helen T. Mack

COLONIE-Helen Theresa (Powers) Mack, 77, of Colonie, died Wednesday August 26, 2009 with her family at her side after a long illness.
Born in Cohoes, She was the daughter of the late William and Ann Jeffries Powers. Helen was a graduate of Cohoes High School and St. Peter's School of Nursing. She resided in Colonie for most of her life. Helen was a longtime communicant of St. Francis de Sales Church in Loudonville. Helen was proud of 40 year career, ending in 1994 as a nursing supervisor with St. Peter's Hospital. She was an inspiration to many of the nursing staff that served under her, always expressing that caring for the patient was most important and that although it would be hard work, there is no reason we couldn't have fun doing it. Helen was a member of the St. Peter's Hospital Retired Nurse Association, the K of C Council #173 Columbiettes and South Colonie AARP Chapter 2873.
She is survived by husband of 52 years, Raymond Mack of Colonie, her sons, Gregory Mack of Colonie and Kevin (Melissa) Mack of Saratoga Springs and her sister in law, Irene Riley of Albany. Helen was the loving sister to the late Mary Powers Baran. She took delight in her grandchildren, Isabella and Abigail Mack. She is the aunt of Vince, Cindy, Karen, Helen, Nancy, Amy and several grand nephews.
Funeral services will be Tuesday morning at 9:15 at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd. Colonie then to St. Francis de Sales Church, Loudonville at 10:00 where the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Calling hours will be Monday from 4 to 8 pm at the funeral home. Entombment will follow the mass at St. Agnes Cemetery. At the request of the family, memorial contributions may be made to St. Peters Hospital Foundation, 315 S.
