SCHENECTADY – Helen V. Doin, 88, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 22, 2010 at her daughter's home in Colonie, surrounded by her loving family.
Helen was born in Schenectady and was the daughter of the late Samuel and Philomena (Toscano) Monarchio. She worked as a health care aide for over 25 years for Albany County Nursing Home in Colonie and then Hallmark Nursing Home in Schenectady. After retiring from the nursing home she worked as a school crossing guard for the City of Schenectady for over 20 years before retiring in 2009.
Helen is survived by her loving children, Emilia (John) Comproski of Colonie, William Doin of Schenectady, and Richard (Debbie) Doin of Amsterdam; her brothers, Frank Monarchio of Schenectady and Lawrence Monarch of Largo, FL; her grandchildren, Peter, Mark and Paul Porto, Nicole Doin and Richard Doin, Jr.; 6 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers, Anthony and Charles Monarch and her sisters, Elizabeth Garufy and Joan Campchero.
A memorial service will be held at 6:00 p.m. Wednesday at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave.). Calling hours will precede the service from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home on Wednesday.
