Colonie - Helen V. Joyce, 81, passed away peacefully Sunday April 25, 2010 surrounded by loving family members.
Helen was born in Woodside, NY the daughter of the late Joseph and Helen Hains. Helen and her loving husband of 45 years, Raymond T. Joyce, Sr. who preceded her in death, raised their children on Long Island before moving to the Ravena, New York area. They moved to California where they lived for more than twenty two years. Helen then returned to the capital district to be closer to her daughters, nine years ago.
Helen was a devout catholic, a communicant of Christ Our Light Catholic Church (formerly St. Frances de Sales) and adored St. Theresa. Helen had many dear friends who she thought of like family. She could always be counted on to be the life of the party. The social circle at Colonie Towers will certainly miss her wit.
Helen is survived by her children: Deb (Chip) Scalzo, Cathy Joyce, Pat (Susan) Joyce, Joe (Jeannie) Joyce, Dan (Lynn) Joyce, Ray Joyce and Chrissy Sheppard, nine grandchildren and her beloved brother, Buddy Hains.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday 10:00 am at Christ Our Light Catholic Church, 1 Maria Dr., Loudonville, NY. Interment will be private at the family's wishes. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Albany County Community Hospice 445 New Karner Rd., Albany, NY 12205.
