Helena M. O'Sullivan Carey, 95, passed away on Saturday, February 26, 2022. Helena was born on May 1, 1926, the daughter of the late Gilbert L. O'Sullivan and Gwendolyn E. Tinning in Burlington, Ontario, Canada. She was the loving wife of the late Joseph A. Carey who died in 1998.
Helena is survived by her sons, Gilbert L. (Barbara) Carey, Sr. of Colonie, New York and Glenn W. Carey of Latham, New York. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Gilbert L. Carey, Jr. of Virginia Beach, Virginia, Kristen M. (Bradley) Howells of Raleigh, North Carolina, Scotty P. Carey of Colonie, New York and Jaclynn L. (Matthew) Cook of La Mesa, California; her great grandchildren, Noah and Even Carey, Jillian and Maren Howells, and Adrian Carey.
In addition to her parents and husband, Helena was predeceased by her sons, Joseph A. Carey, Jr. and Kenneth J. Carey; her siblings, Gwendolyn M. Nelson, Daniel W. O'Sullivan and Jean L. Birmingham.
Helena was a dedicated mother to her sons, loved gardening and was an avid reader. She worked for many years at the New York Telephone Company in Albany and Troy.
A special thank you to Joanne Bleau, David and Waldi Cavanaugh and Karen O'Sullivan for your loving support and being there for Aunt Helena.
The family would like to thank Lauren Unguran, from Community Hospice Care for the care, emotional and spiritual support for Helena.
Services will be private and at the convenience of the family.
