Helene A. Burhans

SCHENECTADY - Helene A. Burhans, 80, of Schenectady, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday January 18, 2014 at her residence. She was born in Central Falls, Rhode Island and was the daughter of the late Stanley D. and Martha Jones.
Helene resided in Apalachin, NY for many years and had worked as a teacher and a nurse. She was an active member of St. Andrews Episcopal Church in Vestal NY for most of her adult life and was a participant of Calvary Tabernacle in Schenectady at the end of her life.
Helene was predeceased by her husband of 43 years William G. Burhans, and her brother David S Jones. She was the devoted mother of Karen R. (Jim) Laing, Stan Burhans and George (Susan) Burhans. She is also survived by eight grandchildren and many people who lovingly called her Grandma.
Her family would like to thank the police departments of Schenectady, Rotterdam, and Niskayuna for bringing her home each time she would lose her way.
