Henriette Lilly Baye
March 4, 1923 — December 7, 2014
Henriette Lilly Baye, age 91, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Sunday, December 7, 2014. Lilly died peacefully at the Albany County Nursing Home after a lengthy decline in health due to dementia.
Daughter of the late Isadore Knapp and Anna Schiffner. Born in Belina, Chech Republic, (Bohemia) on March 4, 1923. She was schooled in Bohemia and attended The University of Prague. After emigrating to Germany and then America, she and her husband (Friedrich) and family lived in Queens, Ballston Spa and in the Village of Colonie.
In the Albany area she was employed for 35 years by the F.W. Woolworth Company and worked as a dept. manager and clerk for over 35 years. Many people have remembered her as the "friendly lady with the German accent". She was also active with the Village of Colonie Seniors and really enjoyed her involvement with Christian activities, especially at her church Reach Out Fellowship in Colonie. She also loved and enjoyed her garden.
A Capital District resident for over 53 years she is survived by her daughter Mary-Lou Baye(Gary) Fitch of the Woodlands, Texas and her son Fred Baye of Albany.
Lilly had six grandchildren Chelsea Baye (Kevin) Brandow, Jeremy (Amy Baughman) Baye, Marlies Fitch (Jeffrey) Ledbetter, Melissa Fitch (Trey) Rogers, Monica Fitch (Joshua) Broome, Michelle Fitch and three great-grandchildren. She was pre-deceased by her loving husband Friedrich K. Baye in 1989.
Special thanks are also extended to JESUS CHRIST --- her long-time pastor Rev. Dr. Jerry Lynn and to caregiver friends, Brenda Fitch, Betty Nash, Patti Baye, many others and Hospice at the end.
Funeral services will be held at New Comer Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie, NY on Saturday, December 13, 2014 from 8:30 to 9:30am with entombment to follow at Memory Gardens Mausoleum at 10am.
