McKownville- Henry Doak, 82, passed away on Tuesday, July 19, 2005 at the Community Hospice Inn at St. Peter's Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Albany he was the son of the late Abram and Jennie (Balmer) Doak. Henry served his country in the United States Army during WWII. He was a graduate of Siena College and earned his Masters Degree from NYS Teacher's College. Henry went on to teach at Albany Business College his entire career until his retirement in 1980. He was an active member of Pineview Community Church for many years. A devoted father and grandfather, Henry's love was taking an interest in the lives of his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed spending his time at their school, and church functions sporting events, and extra curricular activities. His main focus in life was his family. Henry is predeceased by his beloved, wife June (Mason) Doak, and his brother, Stanley Doak.
Henry leaves behind to cherish his memory his five children: David (Ellen) Doak of Scotia, Debra (Jerry) Collette of Malone, and Daniel (Regina) Doak, Darrell (Patty) Doak, and Dana (Tracy) Doak all of McKownville. He is also survived by his 12 adored grandchildren: Matthew, Erin, Kelly, Brittany, Ethan, Megan, Stephen, Brendan, Laura, Casey, Caleb, and Emily.
Funeral services will be held on Friday at 10:00 AM at Pineview Community Church, 251 Washington Avenue Ext., Albany. Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at New Comer-Cannon Family Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave.). Interment will be in Albany Rural Cemetery, Menands. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Community Hospice of Albany, 445 New Karner Rd., Albany, NY 12205, Pineview Community Church, 251 Washington Ave. Ext., Albany, NY 12205 or to the Christian college of one's choice in memory of Henry Doak.
