ALBANY – Henry W. Fludd, Jr., 87, passed away on Saturday, October 22, 2005 at his home with family by his side.
Henry was born on September 14, 1918 in Summerton, SC and was the son of the late Henry W. Sr. and Annie C. Watson Fludd.
Henry worked as a long shoreman with Local #1294 and worked at Howard Johnson's both in Albany, for many years before retiring in 1985. His hobbies included cooking and hunting. He was a lifetime member of NAACP, and member of the American Rifle Association, the Commander Club 2001 and the Disabled American Veteran.
Henry is survived by his children, Ruth Ann Wilson of South Carolina, Jarrette (Waverly) Parker of Harrisburg, PA, Janet (Dana) Martinez of Albany and Lowell Fludd of Temple Hills, MD; his grandchildren Ali Strickland, Bianca and Brittany Martinez and Jacynda and Lauren Fludd; his great granddaughter, Alicia Dakira Strickland; his brothers, Samuel Fludd of Albany and Amos Fludd of Miami, FL; his sisters, Dorothy Chandler of Albany, Susan McKnight, Lillian Green and Helen Wright all of Manhattan; his stepchildren, Robert Withers Jr. of Schenectady and Patricia Ward of Niskayuna; his devoted companion of 24 years, Denise Bowden and his former wife, Corine Sadler. He is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews.
Henry was predeceased by a brother, Edward Fludd and sisters, Blanche Fludd, Irene Pearson and Frances Wilson.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 1:00 p.m. at the Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church 236 No. Pearl St., Albany. Calling hours will be held prior to the service from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the church. Interment will be held at Memory's Garden in Colonie.
