ROTTERDAM – Herbert R. Kingsbury, 83, went to be with the Lord on Monday, February 16, 2009.
Herbert was born on May 9, 1925 in Springfield, VT and was the son of the late Wilma G. (Bosworth) Baker and Leonard A. Kingsbury. He served in the US Army in Company C, 34th Infantry Regiment during WWII. He was an electrician with Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory in Niskayuna for 37 years, retiring in June 1985. He was a member of the American Legion Post #1091 where he was a past Commander, a member of the Rotterdam VFW Post #1895 and a member of the Rotterdam Kiwanis where he was Man of the Year in 1986 and 1989. He was an avid water skier, skiing until the age of 75 on one ski.
Herbert is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Ethel (Moore) Kingsbury; his children, Robert R. (Linda) Kingsbury of Ballston Spa, twins, Donnie E. (Lorraine) Kingsbury of Niskayuna and Diane E. Kingsbury of Schenectady, and David H. (Kathleen) Kingsbury of Colonie; his grandchildren, Tina (Chris) Webster, Aaron (Mindy) Kingsbury, Sarah Kingsbury, Bethany (Herrington) Placides, Steven Kingsbury, Jeannette (Patrick) Sparr, Paul Kingsbury, Chantel (Jared) Horbach, Kimberly (Tom) Hamilton, Kelly (Joe) Salvione, Michael Kingsbury and Melissa (Chris) Brown; and 12 great-grandchildren. He was also the brother of William, Wanna and Virginia Baker, and was predeceased by his brother, Oren Baker and his stepfather, William Baker.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday at New Comer-Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave.). Calling hours will precede the service from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday. Interment will be held at Memory's Garden in Colonie.
