Herbert R. Stewart

Watervliet- Herbert R. Stewart (Sonny), 82, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 18, 2021 with his loving family by his side. Born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, Herbert was the son of the late Peter Stewart and Gertrude Drummond. After graduating high school, Herbert joined the United States Marine Corps. Following his honorable discharge, Herbert attended Rensselear Polytechnic Institute and graduated with a bachelor's degree as an engineer. Herbert worked as an engineer at Southco for 45 years until his retirement in 2001.

In his spared time, Herbert enjoyed watching the news and sports. He loved listening to jazz music (Miles Davis was one of his favorite musicians). He was a big traveler; a man who loved to hop in the car and just go.

He is survived by his daughter, Kaleena M. Stewart, son in-law, Rahmell Lane and son, Toby R. Stewart and his family. Herbert will be missed by his grandchildren, Chandon Bouyea, Navier Lane, Kamarii Lane and London Lane.

A graveside service will take place Friday, September 10, 2021 at 2pm at Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Rd, Schuylerville, NY 12871.
