Albany – Hien Thi Le, 84, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 20, 2025 at St Peter’s Hospital.
Hien was born in Vietnam on July 8, 1940. She was a woman of remarkable resilience. At the age of 14, her family fled to South Vietnam in order to escape the North Communist regime. Following the fall of Vietnam in 1975, she fled the country with her husband and children and put down roots in Albany in 1978. She dedicated herself to supporting her family by working tirelessly in the demanding restaurant industry, with her last position at Grandma’s Pies & Restaurant. Hien was the epitome of selflessness, always putting the needs of others above her own. She led a humble life and was committed to paying it forward.
Hien is predeceased by her husband Tu of 55 years. She is survived by her children Stephanie Le, Khanh Le, Tony Le, Rick Le (Laura Crandall), Laura Le (Phat Tran), and Tam Le (Sean Byrnes); her brother-in-law Ngo Van Le; her sister-in-law Loan Tran; eight grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday, March 27, 2025 from 4pm-7pm at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie, NY 12205. A funeral service will be held on Friday at 10am at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Albany Rural Cemetery.
