Hilda F. Griessel, 97, wife of the late Richard W. Griessel, entered into eternal life with our Lord on January 1, 2025, peacefully, after battling Alzheimer’s for many years. Hilda was born in Leigh, Nebraska on January 26, 1927, to Henry Rabeler and Eunice Holm.
After graduating from Albany Business College, Hilda was employed as a secretary for ALCOA Aluminum Company until she found her true calling as a dedicated homemaker and mother. She attended the church where she met the love of her life, Richard, and they continued on to enjoy 62 years of marriage. Her housekeeping was fastidious, and her gardening was beautiful. Her motto was “Cleanliness is next to Godliness”. Hilda was a true lady and will be remembered for her outstanding ability to listen, her expert pie baking skills, and the special family favorite; fudge brownies! Hilda had a deep faith and a love for her family, along with a forever bond with her twin sister, Dolores.
Hilda is survived by her 3 loving daughters, Darlene (Mark) Chesnut of Rotterdam, NY, Deborah Palmieri of Fairfield, CT and Denise (Barry) Cavanaugh of Herkimer, NY; her cherished grandchildren, Owen, Lydia, Shaye, Emmett, Aidan, and Augustine, and great-grandchildren, Jack, Safita, Soren, Levi, Lucan, and Esme. She is also survived by her beloved twin Dolores and many nieces and nephews.
The family is grateful to Marjorie Doyle Rockwell Center and Eddy Village Green for their care and compassion over the last 14 years.
