Schenectady- Hildegard Stutz, a resident of Kingsway Arms Nursing Home, formerly of Loudonville, passed peacefully on February 14, with her devoted husband, Alfred, by her side. She was born in Koenigsberg, East Prussia to Otto Albert and Anna Maria Helmdorf Flemming . Hilde often spoke lovingly about growing up with her 7 brothers and sisters in the town of Rothenen, along the Baltic Sea. The Flemmings immigrated to the US in 1951, settling in the Albany area. She married Alfred in 1954. Together they raised 3 daughters. Hildegard was strong in her Christian faith. She is survived by her husband, Alfred; daughters Karen (Ken) Bingham, Robin (Christopher) Blais, and Kim (Gardner) Gurney; and 7 grandchildren David Bingham, Lydia Bingham, Stephen Bingham, Connor Blais, Sarah Gurney, Rachel Gurney and Caitlin Gurney; and one great-grandson Zen Blais; siblings Ruth (C. Vernon) Stewart, Waltraud (Richard) Fogel, and Gerhard (Ann) Flemming. Hilde is predeceased by her siblings Marianne Waldvogel, Ursula Smith, Horst Flemming and Karl Flemming.
Calling hours will be held at New Comer Funerals & Cremations, Colonie Chapel, 343 New Karner Road, Albany, NY 12205, on Sunday, February 19, 2017, from 1:00pm-3:00pm with a celebration of Hildegard's life immediately following.
