ALBANY – Hobart F. Ross, 89, passed away on Wednesday, February 1, 2006 at his home.
Hobart was born on July 15, 1916 in Watervliet and was the son of the late Frank and Irene (Carl) Ross. He graduated from La Salle Institute in Troy. He was a charter member of the Minerva Ridge Runners Hunting Club and he was an avid hunter and fisherman including ice fishing.
Hobart worked at General Electric in Schenectady for over 40 years before retiring in 1978 as foreman in the steam turbine division.
Hobart is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Ina (Laning) Ross; his daughter, Linda Ross and her husband Richard Schultz; his son William Ross and his wife Michele; his brother, William Ross; his sister, Muriel Houlihan; his granddaughter, Alexandra; and a niece and a nephew. He is also survived by his loyal pets, Duffy and Nikki.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday at 10 a.m. at New Comer-Cannon Family Funeral Home 343 New Karner Road in Colonie. Interment will follow at Memory's Garden in Colonie. Calling hours will be held on Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
