Homer Kerr

October 9, 1921 — July 6, 2022

Schenectady - Homer Kerr, 100, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, July 6, 2022. He was the son of the late William Kerr and Beatrice King Cushon and was a devoted and loving husband to Claretha "Shirley" Kerr for 67 wonderful years.

After graduating from Booker T. Washington High School in Pensacola FL, Homer joined the Army Air Corps. He served in World War II as a Telephone Lineman until his honorable discharge in 1945.

Homer went on to work as a Welder for General Electric for over 30 years until his retirement.

He was a proud member of St. George's Episcopal Church in Schenectady and enjoyed spending time with his family. He loved bowling and playing Pinochle.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley; daughter, Belinda K. Gravett (Larry); son, Kevin W. Kerr (Vanecia); and 2 grandsons Adam and Kristoff, along with many other relatives and close friends.

Calling hours will be held at New Comer Cremations and Funerals, 181 Troy Schenectady Road, Watervliet, New York 12189 on Saturday July 23, 2022 from 9am to 11am with a funeral service to immediately follow at 11am. Burial will follow the service at Memory Gardens Cemetery, 983 Watervliet Shaker Rd, Albany, NY 12205.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice.
