SCHENECTADY – Howard A. Jones, 67, passed away on Saturday, October 19, 2013 at his home, surrounded by his loving family.
Howard was born on September 2, 1946 in Albany and was the son of the late James A. and Dorothy I. (Claydon) Jones. He was working as the supervisor of the janitorial department for the Hollandale Apartments and Health Club for over 30 years. He was an avid golfer, an avid fan of the NY Jets and NY Mets, loved making people happy, but most especially spending time with his family.
Howard is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Linda (Merchant) Jones; his devoted children, Chuck Jones, Yvonne (John) Strain, Howard G. Jones and Paul Shermerhorn; his siblings, Paula Foster, Davie Jones, Dorothy White, Deborah Rodriguez, Paul Jones and the late James T. Jones; his cherished grandchildren, Brandon, Kayla, Michael, Rachel, Caitlin, Dylan, Kimberly, Avery, Mackenzie, Madison, Adrian, Shawn and the late Jessica; his four-legged son, Jack and several nieces and nephews.
A special thank you to Howard's brother, Paul, for all the support and care he gave to both Howard and Linda.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie with a funeral service at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow the service at Schenectady Memorial Park Cemetery in Rotterdam.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, One Penny Lane, Latham, NY 12110 in memory of Howard A. Jones.
