Howard C. Schramm Sr., 84, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Friday, June 17, 2011. Born and raised in Albany, he was the son of the late Charles Jacob and Genevieve Betters Schramm.
He attended Philip Schuyler High School in Albany. After which he proudly served in the US Navy as a 3rd class Ships Fitter during World War II. Howard was a City of Albany Police Officer for 32 years retiring as a Sergeant. He was a 60 year member of the Bucci-McTague Post #1530 in Albany. Howard enjoyed fishing, hunting and 15 years of wintering in Florida.
Howard is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years and high school sweetheart, Violet (Nichols) Schramm. He is the devoted father of Howard Schramm Jr. of Albany and Beverly (Clem) Silvernail of Brunswick. He is the cherished grandfather of Kimberly, Cari, Amanda and Dakotah. As well as great-grandfather to Liam, Tyler, Mikayla and Ethan. Howard is the loving twin brother of Helen (John) Ogden of Watervliet. Howard also leaves behind nieces, cousins; and friends.
