LOUDONVILLE – Howard J. Lewis, 91, passed away on Saturday, May 26, 2007 at his home.
Born in Schenectady, Howard was the son of the late Frederick W. and Emily Marshall Lewis. He served in the US Army from 1933 to 1937 and from 1944 to 1945 and was the recipient of a Purple Heart. He was a manager for Sealtest Foods in Schenectady for over 30 years, retiring in 1974, when the plant closed. He then continued working for Abelove Linen as a route manager until 1990.
Howard is survived by his children, Patricia A. Lewis of Loudonville and Charles W. (Beth) Lewis of Ft. Myers, FL; his sister, Florence Osterhout of Zeppherhills, FL; his sisters-in-law, Reta VanAuken of Scotia and Eileen Davis of Lexington, SC; his granddaughters, Christine (Scott) Cadan of Colonie, Kimberly (Michael) DonVito of Colonie and Amanda (John) Stallings of Clearwater, SC; his great-grandchildren, Jenna DonVito, Mikayla Jakubiak, Megan DonVito, Loryn DonVito, Jayson Cadan and Nikolas Cadan. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and very special friends.
He was predeceased by his wife, Alice VanAuken Lewis in December 1998 after 59 years of marriage. He is also predeceased by brothers, George Lewis and Frank Davis.
A memorial mass will be held at 12 Noon Friday at Holy Name of Jesus Church, PNCC, 1040 Pearl St, Schenectady. Memorial contributions may be made to the USO, P.O.
