Howard E. Johnson

Colonie- Howard E. Johnson, 94, passed away peacefully on August 21, 2017 at Van Rensselaer Manor Nursing Home. The son of the late James H. and Jennie (Durfee) Johnson, Howard was born on November 20, 1922 in Colonie, NY. Howard served his country honorably and faithfully in the United States Army during WWII, seeing action in Ardennes, Central Europe, Northern France, Rhineland with the 317th Infantry Company. After the war, Howard married Luella Hutchinson. Together they raised their son Kenneth in Colonie. She predeceased him in 2009. Howard worked as an auto mechanic for many years. In his spare time Howard kept a vegetable garden and enjoyed riding motorcycles, snowmobiles, and bicycles.
Howard is survived by his son Kenneth and his wife Elisa of Colonie; his granddaughter, Allison Johnson and his great-granddaughter, Samantha.
In keeping with Howard's wishes, he will be buried with his wife at Evergreen Memorial Park in a private ceremony.
