NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, SC – Howard K. Parsons Sr., 68, formerly of Guilderland, passed away on Wednesday April 29, 2009 in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. He was born in Troy and was the son of the late H. Kenwood and Elsie Herrick Parsons.
Howard was a graduate of the College of St. Rose. He was a Major with the US Army Reserves. Howard retired in 1996 from NYS Department of Tax & Finance after 30 years of service. He was a longtime member and the 1984 Past Exalted Ruler of the Guilderland Elks. Howard had been a volunteer during the seventies and eighties at the North Bethlehem Fire Department. He was an avid NY Yankees fan and horse racing enthusiast. He dabbled in race horse ownership and enjoyed spending time with his friends and family on the South Carolina beach and on his boat along the Hudson in Stillwater.
He is the husband of the late Diane Moore Parsons who perished in the World Trade Center on 9/11.
Howard is the loving father of H. Kenwood Parsons of Lexington, KY., Laura Parsons of Albany, Jill Parsons Burger of Guilderland, Meg Parsons of Irvine, CA. Stepfather of Frank Tatum of Stillwater and Karen Tatum of Colonie. He is the brother of Marilyn Rieker of Winston Salem, Robert Parsons of Yonkers and Lowell Parsons of LaJolla, CA. He is the cherished grandfather of Kara Parsons, Juliana Burger and Will Burger. Howard was living with his loving partner Deanna Nolan in North Myrtle Beach at the time of his death.
Funeral services will be Saturday morning at 11:00 at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd. Colonie. Calling hours will be Friday from 5 to 8 pm at the funeral home. Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Troy.
