Howard Raust

ROTTERDAM- Howard Allendorf Raust, 72, of Rotterdam, passed way on Saturday March 4, 2006 at Ellis Hospital. He was born in Hudson NY and was the son of the late Harry and Georgia Raust.
Howard was a graduate of Hudson High School and RPI here he earned his Bachelors degree and was a member of Alpha Tau Omega. He was a veteran of the US Coast Guard during the Korean War. Howard was an electrical engineer at Knoll Atomic Power Laboratory in Niskayuna for twenty five years, retiring in 19996. He was a member of the KAPL golf league, retirees club and the GE Elfuns club. Howard was an active member and usher of Zion Lutheran Church in Schenectady. He coached church basketball teams, Rotterdam Little League and Babe Ruth teams for many years.
He is the beloved husband of Ellen M. Seiler Raust. Devoted father of Eric Raust (Beth), Nelson Raust (Darcy), Nina Riley (Scott), Kira Orcutt (Jerry). Cherished grandfather of Michael, Brian, Danny and Katie Raust; Kristen and Andrew Raust; Chris, Michele and Julia Riley; Kasey and Kevin Orcutt.
Funeral services will be Friday at 10 am at Zion Lutheran Church, Schenectady. Calling hours will be Thursday fro 6 to 8 pm at NewComer-Cannon Family Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd. Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave). Interment will be in Zion Lutheran Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Zion Lutheran Church (Wheel Chair Lift Fund), 153 Nott Terrace, Schenectady, NY 12308 or Eddy Senior Care Program, 504 State Street Schenectady, NY 12305 in memory of Howard A. Raust.
