Albany- Hugh D. Roberts, 72, of Albany and Bolton Landing, NY, passed away peacefully Thursday December 6, 2018 after an extended illness.
Hugh was the beloved husband of Chris Roberts, who predeceased him in 2014, and father of Hugh Roberts Jr., who predeceased him in 2002. He was the son of the late Ann and Philip Roberts, and is survived by his siblings, Phil Roberts and Owen Roberts (Laurel) of Guilderland, Lisa Roberts (Tom) of Eastham, MA and Sheila diPalma of Denville, NJ; predeceased by his sister, Ann and brother, Evan, and survived by nieces and nephews John, Corinne, Jason and Lisa, Phil, Jackie, Amy and Elizabeth, Christine, Trevor, Alek and Bronic, Kerry and Matt. Hugh is also survived by his sisters-in-law, Veronica Lynch and Sharon Fenno of Albany, and Jamie Bentz, his longtime assistant and former wife of his deceased son Hugh Jr.
After growing up in Albany and attending Christian Brothers Academy, Hugh attended Adirondack Community College and was in the Marine Corps reserves.
Hugh was the owner of Roberts Real Estate and active in the Capital Region and Lake George real estate markets. He lived at Juniper Hills in Bolton Landing for the last 20 years and had many friendships there. Locally, he was active in the Land Conservancy of Lake George. Hugh loved boating, water skiing, running, good food and wine and his lab, Abby. After his wife Chris' passing, he continued to serve Abby 3 course meals complete with yogurt for dessert.
The Roberts family want to thank the staffs at Daughters of Sarah Nursing Home who cared for Hugh during his brief time there and Atria Senior Living, who welcomed Hugh and supported his desire to be independent as long as he could.
Calling hours will be Saturday December 15, 2018 from 4 PM to 7 PM at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie, 12205. Burial services will be private.
