Ida Ruth Powell

October 18, 1921 — May 1, 2021

Ida (Marino) Barber Powell of Clifton Park, New York passed away peacefully at the age of 99 surrounded by her loving family on May 1, 2021. She joins her late son Ralph "Skip" Barber III and late husbands Ralph W. Barber Jr. and James H. Powell.

Ida was born to William and Albertha (Rice) Marino on October 18, 1921 in Watertown, New York. There she met her husband, Ralph Barber Jr. They settled in Colonie, New York where they raised four daughters and two sons.

Ida was a strong woman by nature and dedicated her life to ensuring the happiness and prosperity of her family. Her strength to live and prosper even
in the face of great challenges is a gift that she instilled in each of her children, as well as her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She graduated from Watertown High School in 1939. She was employed by the NYS Department of Labor in 1969 and retired as a Sr. Statistics Clerk in 1983. After the untimely passing of her husband Ralph, Ida married James Powell with whom she happily spent her golden years. Ida touched the hearts of everyone she came into contact with and had a way of making them feel as if they were the only person in the room.

In addition to her son Skip and husbands Ralph and Jim, Ida was also predeceased by her 5 siblings.

Ida lives on in those she has left behind including her children, Joan (Jimmy) Meyer, Linda (Vinny) Ausfeld, Steve (Diane) Barber, Susan (Gary) Lanahan, Tina Barber; grandchildren, Jenny Lanahan, Tracy Christopher, Kathy McCoy, Michelle (Joe) Naccarato, Scott Barber; great -grandchildren, Jesse (Ana) Sample, Sheresa (Teddy) Mosier, Joshua Naccarato, Nicholas (Marisa) Christopher, Keilan Christopher, Zachary McCoy, Bella Barber; and great-great-grandchild, Caia Mosier. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to express our sincere thanks to Ronnie, Colleen and Angel from Community Hospice of Saratoga for the wonderful care and kindness they gave our mother in her time of need. They truly are very special!
