Imre Cheffolway

Imre G. Cheffolway D.D.S., 65, of Latham, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his loved ones Monday July 19, 2010 after a protracted illness that he faced with great grace, dignity and courage. Born in Budapest, Hungary on January 14, 1945, he fled the Communist Regime in his 20's and actually swam a great distance in order to eventually arrive in Italy. From there, he relocated to Sweden where he continued his studies and opened a successful dental practice. He moved to the United States in 1985 and worked very hard to establish his own private office. It was in New York City that he met his wife who was also originally from Hungary. They married in 2000 and moved to the Albany area in 2004 so that Imre could join a practice and spend more quality time with his family. He enjoyed playing tennis, reading history and finding new restaurants with great food.
Imre was the beloved husband of Erika an devoted father of Ashley. He will be very fondly remembered as an exceptionally kind, gentle and generous man who always put others first. Sincere thanks to all the friends, neighbors and church members who have given their love, support and help to us during this sad time.
A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of Assumption Church, Latham, Saturday 10:00 am. Memorial contributions may be made to Gilda's Club of Capital Region, 1 Penny Lane, Latham, NY 12110.
