ALBANY – Ira L. Stockwell, 77, passed away on Friday, May 6, 2005 at St. Peter's Hospital.
Ira was born on October 23, 1927 in Mechanicville to the late Leonard and Lanetta Richardson Stockwell. He served in the US Army with the 4th Tactical Air Communication Squadron during WWII, attaining the rank of Private First Class.
Ira was a Teamster with Local 294, driving for Bi Lo Trucking Company in Albany for many years before retiring in 1990.
Ira is survived by his loving wife of 29 years, Mary M. Stockwell; his brother, Elmer (Kay) Stockwell; his sister-in-law, Barbara (John) Bagyi; and his nieces and nephews, Joyce, John and Colleen Bagyi and Leonard, Robert and Nancy Stockwell.
Funeral service will be held on Wednesday morning at 8:15 at New Comer-Cannon Family Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave.), then to the Church of the Blessed Sacrament where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:00. Interment at Our Lady of Angels Cemetery. Calling hours will be on Tuesday from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Church of the Blessed Sacrament, 609 Central Ave., Albany, NY 12206 in memory of Ira L. Stockwell.
