Irene Mary Harvey, 83, of Rotterdam, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 11, 2020 at the Oneida Health Care Center.
Born in Kingston, Ontario, Canada, Irene was the daughter of the late Joseph and Lily (Butler) Buckley. She was the devoted wife to the late Thomas Charles Harvey, II. They were married 20 years until his passing in August, 1990.
Irene was raised in Kingston, Ontario, Canada. She came to the US in 1957, but was proud to remain a Canadian citizen. She lived in Kingston, NY, Albany, Colonie, and Rotterdam, NY where she lived until her passing.
Irene began working as part of the office staff at Queen's University at Kingston in Ontario, Canada in 1955. Irene retired from St. Peter's Hospital in 2005 where she worked in the ICU Unit as an equipment technician.
Irene was a sweet and loving person who enjoyed spending time with her family and her many friends and neighbors. She was always smiling and she loved chatting and reminiscing, and sitting on the porch knitting. She loved all types of music, her grandchildren and the family cat, Bartholomew.
Survivors include her sons, James J. Harvey, William J. Streeter and his wife, Angela Streeter, Michael H. Streeter and Faye Cook, and her daughter, Julie Harvey.
Her grandchildren; Timothy Streeter and Carolyn Harvey and great-grandchildren Mason and Mahaley Streeter.
Her nieces Caren, Luanne (and Rob), her nephews Reg (and Bev), Nathan, Colton, Brandon, Taylor and several cousins also survive.
Besides her parents and husband, Irene was predeceased by her sisters Betty Cheetham, Patricia Wood, brother William J. Buckley and brother in law Jerry Wood
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital.
