LATHAM, Irene Elizabeth Maiello, 51, passed away unexpectedly on December 9, 2015 at Samaritan Hospital.
She was born on September 30, 1964 to Frank and Barbara (Rosselli) DiBenedetto in Brooklyn, NY.
Irene was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was a kindhearted and giving person, a natural caretaker of family, friends or anyone in need.
Being the very loving and caring person that she was she always put everyone else first. She had a heart of gold, always focused on the best in life and made everyone feel special. This was very evident from the youngest grandchild to the most mature person. She also loved the outdoors.
Irene was involved with making cider the old fashioned way using a hand crank. She was very particular about the apples that went into making her pies and cider.
She enjoyed driving the old tractor (1946 Ford 2N) at Richard's house in Westerlo. She fed animals and always made sure they had enough cuddling and petting.
She enjoyed taking trips to visit the Amish in Fort Plain and coming back with homemade bread and jams. She would purchase flowers from the Hilltop Greenhouse and plant some in Westerlo and bring flowers to her dad's grave in St. Agnes Cemetery as she was very close to her Dad.
Irene would light up a room when she walked in and made everyone feel really good about themselves. She is loved and will be dearly missed.
Irene is survived by her loving Husband of 22 years, Joseph Maiello; her children, Kristin (Frank Rosa) Lagace, Dominic Maiello; a granddaughter, Elizabeth Rosa; mother, Barbara; brother, Frank (Maureen) DiBenedetto; and close friend, Richard Umholtz and her 4 legged friends, Tootsie, Santino, Sylvester and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, Frank DiBenedetto.
Visitation will be held Monday, December 14, 2015 from 5-8pm pm at New Comer Funeral Home, Colonie. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, December 15, 2015 at 10:00am at New Comer Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society.
