Irene Mary Heitzman

COLONIE – Irene Mary (Emerick) Heitzman, 80, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 13, 2012 at home after a long illness. Born in Albany, she was the daughter of the late Louis and Marion Emerick.
Irene worked for and retired from New York State Departments of Motor Vehicles and Taxation and Finance after 36 years of service. In her spare time, she loved reading, shopping, dancing, music and arts and crafts. Irene enjoyed shopping, visiting the Adirondacks, the ocean and traveling to Las Vegas with her best friend. She was a communicant of Blessed Sacrament Church, Albany.
Along with her parents, Irene was predeceased by her husband of 47 years, Warren, in May.
She is survived by her children Christine Kennedy of Albany and Alan Heitzman of Ravena; brothers Louis and Lawrence Emerick; eleven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; one great-great grandson, Jacksen R. Betler, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions may be made to Community Hospice of Albany, 445 New Karner Road, Albany, NY 12205 in Irene's name.
