NISKAYUNA- Irene Riddell, 92 went peacefully home to be with God, with her loving family at her side on January 27, 2021. She was born June 22, 1928 in Glasgow, Scotland to James and Isabelle (Stevenson) Cambridge.
Irene immigrated to the United States in 1948 traveling on the Queen Mary. Upon arriving in the U.S.A. she worked at General Electric headquarters in Schenectady. In June of 1951 she married her husband of 62 years, Walter Riddell. Her husband and family were her life's joy. Together they raised their family in Latham, later residing in Niskayuna . Irene was well known for her knitting, gifting family and friends alike with handmade treasures. She was a woman of great faith and shared her faith with those around her. She attended Reach Out Fellowship where she had many friends. Irene will be remembered for her ability to make others laugh and smile...and don't forget to "be careful".
She is predeceased by her husband, Walter.
Irene leaves behind her children, Gail (Larry), Bryan (Marie); grandsons, Michael (Sarah), Timothy (Elisa), and Dennis (Lea) and great grandchildren, Audriana and Declan as well as a greatly anticipated new great grandchild due this summer.
The family would like to extend their thanks to Dr. Charles Sulzman, Melissa Coyne from Eddy Visiting Nurse and Rehab Association, the staff of The Community Hospice and Angelica, for their professional and compassionate care of our mother.
