Irma Lee (Granny) Graham Terrell was born March 4, 1933 in Shubuta, MS to the late Leroy Henry and Bennie Johnson Graham. She transitioned to eternal life on Monday, February 20, 2017 surrounded by her loving family at the Capital Nursing Center in Schenectady, NY.
She grew up in Mississippi and attended the Wayne County Public School System.
On August 15, 1951 she married the love of her life, James Clifton (John Henry) Terrell and they relocated to Albany, NY. To this union 7 children were born: the late Ruby Lee, Loneita Ann, Diana, the late James, Bennie Annette, James Clifton, Jr. and Tracy Ann. She was also a special mother to Darlene Pittman, Rose Gibson, Tameka McDaniel, Michelle Robinson and Sonja Comithier.
Irma worked at various jobs throughout the years. She attended various churches and was a member of Revelation COGIC, Albany, NY.
Irma loved plants and flowers – she had a green thumb. She loved playing spades and the casinos. She enjoyed family gatherings and her grandchildren. She loved being catered to. She enjoyed eating good cooking. She believed in keeping it real. She would say, "If you ain't got anything good to say, say it anyway." She had a great smile.
She was predeceased by her husband, James Clifton Terrell; parents, Leroy Henry and Bennie Graham; 2 brothers, Willie E. (Buck) Graham and Randall Graham; 1 sister, Almer Lee Johnson; her 2 children, Ruby Lee and James.
She leaves to cherish her memory her 4 daughters, Loneita (the late Ray) Cooley, Diana (David) Cooley, Bennie (Richard aka Winston) McLean, and Tracy (Charlie) Terrell; and 1 son, James Clifton (Zena) Terrell, Jr. She also leaves to cherish her memory 16 grandchildren; Swazzett Bedward, Denoshi Salmon, Ramona Cooley, Ray Cooley, Jr., Kisha Brown, David Cooley, Jr., Dante Terrell, Irma Terrell, Richard McLean, Anquan McLean, Maquia McLean, Loneita McLean, Shaquana Terrell, Ya-Kima Terrell, Tracy Terrell, Lekisha Terrell; 31 great grands, and 15 great great grands; 1 sister, Delores Kennedy; her special children and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Calling hours will be held at Greater St. John's COGIC, 74 4th Avenue, Albany, on Tuesday, February 28, 2017 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Service will follow at 11:00 A.M. Interment after the service at Graceland Cemetery, 680 Delaware Avenue, Albany, New York.
