Isaac Douglas Parham, Jr (Ketchie) was born December 21, 1930 in Port Chester, NY to the late Isaac Douglas, Sr and Candeias Howard Parham. He passed away at home December 3 after a long illness.
Isaac was educated in the Port Chester Public School System. In 1949, he joined the Army where he served in Germany until his honorable discharge in 1952. He fought in the Korean War. In 1952, Isaac(Ketchie) married Florzell Griffin and from that union three children were born. He was a member of the Universal Masonic Brotherhood, Inc., Hiram Lodge #4. He was a member of the Diplomat
Club and he was involved with the Carver Center. " Ketchie" worked for The Sonitone Co., Bolt and Nut Co., and JorMar Plastics. He later relocated to Albany, NY where he worked for Owens-Corning for 20 years until his retirement. He is survived by his wife Florzell, son Isaac Douglas Parham, III (Gena) of Hawaii; daughters Shannon Parham- Boyd (Lamonte) of Stamford, CT and Karla Parham-Sead (Dion) of West Haven, Ct. Grandchildren Dinitta Lawson, Deondre' Jones, Jared and Quentin Boyd; Kyla, Madison, Raven, and Myles Sead. Brothers Richard (Doralee) of Norwalk, CT and Edward Parham of Delaware; Henry Donaldson of Witchita, Kansas. Sisters Candasie Jane Moore of Albany, NY and Mary Lyons (Charles) of Norwalk, CT. A host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers Charles and Arthur Parham; and two sisters Shirley Reynolds and Evelyn Fields. "Ketchie" spent his final days at home being cared for by a special niece Deeon Fields.
A Funeral Service will be held 12 noon Tuesday at St. Frances AME Zion Church, 18 Smith St., Port Chester, NY. Visitation will precede the service from 10:00am to 12 noon. Interment will be at Greenwood Union Cemetery. A Memorial Service will be held Thursday December 18 from 4:00 to 6:00pm at Community Hospice, 445 New Karner Rd.
