Isabel M. Mayer

Isabel Mayer, 78, passed away peacefully at home on January 3, 2023. Born on April 11, 1944, in Albany NY, she was the daughter of the late William and Helen (Tramback) Mahan.

Isabel graduated from Albany High School and upon graduation worked for the City of Albany until she had her children. After raising them, she returned to work for the NYS Health Department. She retired from there after over thirty years of service.

Isabel loved traveling and enjoyed many of the Caribbean islands. Aruba became one of her and Jim's favorite spots and they visited there frequently. She also loved gardening and could often be found in the summer under a bush or tree pulling and removing those annoying weeds. However, weekends with her family were her most cherished times. She especially loved her grandchildren and spending time with them.

She is survived by her children: James (Mara) Mayer and Christine (Joe) Carhart; grandchildren: William (Haley) Mayer, Daniel Mayer, Megan Carhart,
Alyssa Carhart and Jamie Mayer; and her great grandson, Lincoln Mayer.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of 56 years, Jim, and sister Louise Mahan.

Visitation will be held on Monday January 9th from 4pm-7pm at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Rd, Colonie NY. A funeral ceremony will take place on Tuesday January 10th at 11am at the funeral home. Interment to follow in Memory Gardens.
