Ivan C. Kingsley

Ivan Clifford Kingsley, 97, of Rotterdam, entered into eternal life on October 21, 2021.
Born in Whitehall, NY on January 10, 1924 he was the son of the late Guy Clifford and Vera (Swinton) Kingsley. In 1948 he married Doris Roberts with whom he lived a full life until her passing in 2003.
Ivan had a gentle spirit and enjoyed large family gatherings, especially at Christmastime when he would play his guitar and lead the family in singing Christmas carols. He particularly enjoyed bragging about his 32 great grandchildren. Ivan also enjoyed growing vegetables in his large garden, the envy of the neighborhood. He was an avid reader of comic books, but not the superhero variety. He enjoyed watching television, especially crime dramas, football and baseball. Ivan loved telling stories about his life, mostly his exploits as a young man.
Besides his passion for playing the guitar, Ivan was a songwriter. He wrote several songs of praise and often led his church congregation in singing them. Ivan worked proudly as a machinist, starting in small machine shops until securing a position at General Electric in 1964, where he worked until his retirement in the early '80's.
In addition to his parents Ivan is predeceased by his loving wife Doris Roberts Kingsley and brothers Frederick and Kenneth.
He is survived by his four children, Diane (Bob) Suski of Schenectady, Nancy (Harry) White of Rotterdam, Sandra (Ernest) Raeder of Niskayuna and Ivan (Brenda) Kingsley of Gales Ferry, CT, who loved him dearly and will cherish his memory forever. Ivan is also surived by 10 grandchildren, Robert (Kelli) Suski, Deborah (Michael) Shafer, Edmond (Jessica) Suski, all of Glenville, Harry (Pauline) White of Duanesburg, Michael (Laura) White of Newington, CT, Clifford (Lori) Bradshaw of Duanesburg, Matthew (Sarah) Bradshaw of Bloomfield, NY, Sarah (Christopher) Colomello of Millbrook, NY, Jennifer (Ron) Sullivan of New London, CT and Rebecca (Chris) Gwaltney of Wyoming, RI.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday October 26th at Noon at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Rd Colonie NY 12205
Interment to follow in Schenectady Memorial Park.
