Ivy Fay Gibson

October 20, 1960 — March 13, 2015

Ivy Fay Gibson, 54, of Albany New York, entered into eternal peace on March 13, 2015. Ivy was born on October 20th 1960 in Troy, New York to parents Robert Benjamin Gibson and Gladys Jones-Gibson. She attended Troy High School and later received her G.E.D. Ivy excelled at several professions over her life span including Butchering at Price Chopper and Youth Counseling at St. Ann's. Prior to stopping work Ivy was a Home Health Aid for All Metro in Albany, New York. Ivy was a proud AA sponsor over several years positively influencing many people's lives.
Ivy a loving mother and friend enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Ivy was avid traveler who enjoyed taking road trips to Alabama to visit her brothers and sisters who live there. She was very close to her girlfriends and considered them her extended family; she constantly made sure to schedule social gatherings with them. Always the fashionista, Ivy was current with all the new trends and shopping was one of her favorite hobbies. Ivy's faith and church family was extremely important to her life; she was a prided member of the Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church of Albany, New York.
Ivy was predeceased by her father and mother, brother Bartholomew Gibson, sister Sadie Thomas, sister Cuemi Gibson, brother Thomas Pruitt, children's father and long time companion Sammie Brunson; great niece Tatianna Gill and great nephew Jashawn Gibson. She is survived by her children Desmond Jackson of Troy, NY, Tre'vor Gibson of Albany, NY, Sha'meika Gibson of Albany, NY, Brandon Gibson of Albany, NY and Sa'ki (Zenovia) Gibson of Albany, NY; partner Charles Smith; goddaughter Taneisga Eason; siblings James (Kathy) Gibson, Jeffery (Jeanne) Gibson, Robert Gibson, Martin Gibson, Geraldine Gibson, Stephone Gibson, Stephanie Mitchell, Tracy Morrison, Christopher Gibson, Cassandra Gibson, RC Pruitt and Marjorie Ann Felton. She is also survived her 8 grandchildren Kiersten, Kamryn, Kaden, Za'karra, Mi'King-Lameik, Saniyah, Na'ziya, Zi'yheir, 35 nieces and nephews, 42 great nieces and nephews as well as a host of relatives and friends. Calling hours will be from 12pm to 1pm Thursday March 19th at Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church, 236 North Pearl Street, Albany with funeral service to follow at 1pm.
