Albany -
Ivy Vassell, mom, grandmother, sister and friend passed away on December 13, 2020 at St. Peter's Hospital.
Ivy was born in Jamaica to Neitha and Baszil Vassell. She was the eldest of 13 children. She was blessed with many talents but was renowned for her baking ability.
If you know Ivy you knew she was a hard worker, a kind and formidable human being; she would go to great lengths to ensure that those around her experience her warmth and generosity so it's only fair today that to know her is to love her.
Ivy migrated to the USA in 1989.
She loved her church, so it didn't take so long to find her new church family in Albany where she attended most Sabbaths.
Ivy is survived by her four children: Ransford, Winnifred, Dannette, and Sharon. She was predeceased by her son, Donald. Her passing left a void in the hearts of her many grand and great children of whom she was very proud.
Funeral services will be held at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie, NY 12205 on Monday, December 21. Visitation will be 11am-1pm, with a service to follow at 1pm.
As your children it was our upmost joy to be able to care for you in your later days, in the same way you cared for us. Loving you was our hearts' joy, and we were blessed in many ways to be given a mother like you. Therefore it goes without saying that you will be sorely missed, but we take solace in the fact that you'll continue to live on in our hearts. We will always love you… until we meet again.
