COLONIE– Jack DerGurahian, 88, formerly of Watervliet and NYC, died on Tuesday, June 12, 2012 at Albany County Nursing Home after a brief illness. He was the son of the late Michael and Rose DerGurahian.
Jack was a 1941 graduate of Watervliet High School, a graduate of Syracuse University as well as The Cincinnati Conservatory of Music. He sang for the Metropolitan Opera for over thirty years, acted in several commercials as well as off-Broadway plays and appeared on Allen Funt's "Candid Camera". Jack was a veteran of the Air Force from 1942 to 1945 and served in WWII in the South Pacific.
Jack is survived by his brother Hyck DerGurahian (Cindy Egan DerGurahian) of Loudonville, NY, sister in law, Mary DerGurahian of Troy, NY and several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers Edward, Charles, Marcy and by a sister, Alice Corliss.
At the request of the family, contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice.
The family would like to thank Ingersoll Place, the Albany VA Hospital and especially the Albany County Nursing Home for all the wonderful care Jack received over the years.
Services will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
