COLONIE – Jack H. Hines, 85, of Colonie entered into eternal life Saturday, November 7, 2009 at Ellis Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Jersey Shore, PA. Jack was the son of the late George H. and Alma (Stoltz) Hines.
Jack served in the U.S. Army Air Force during WWII. He was stationed in the Philippines and attained the rank of Sergeant. He worked for General Electric as a machinist in Schenectady for over 40 years, retiring in 1984. He was the recording secretary for Local 301. Jack enjoyed hunting, bowling, playing softball, darts and pool, and was an avid golfer.
Jack is survived by his son, Jack H. Hines and his wife, Jean of Leland, NC, his daughter, Sharyn L. Houlihan and her husband, Michael of Colonie, his grandchildren, Curtis Hines (Heather), Christopher Hines, Shelley Parker, Michael Houlihan Jr. (Jennifer), Brian Houlihan (Kristi), and Tiffany Houlihan (Elaine Hennessey), and his great-grandchildren, Christopher, Dylan, Cory, Evan, Matthew, Jared, and Madison. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Eva K. (Short) Hines, his brother, George D. Hines, and his sisters, Alma Frank, Carolyn Harper, Barbara Hill, Beula Smith, Julia Hoffman, and Betty Olson.
The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the nurses and staff at Ellis Hospital for the care and concern given to Jack.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave.). Calling hours will be Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in Memory's Garden.
