WATERFORD - Jack Reid Dalrymple, 79, died Thursday, July 10, 2014 after a brief illness. He was born in Albany in 1934, the son of the late Mary Reid Dalrymple Sydorko and Alexander R. Dalrymple. Jack completed high school, graduated from Albany Business College, and was a hairdresser on Lindbergh Avenue, North Albany, for more than 50 years. Recently he resided in Waterford with his beloved companion Frank Madigan, and together they travelled to the Caribbean, and throughout the Mediterranean, touring Spain, Turkey, Greece and Italy. Jack loved their many trips to Florida, Cape Cod and Canada.
Jack was revered as the "social director" who hosted fine dinner parties and had a special gift for bringing people together. "MORE PRECIOUS WAS THE LIGHT IN YOUR EYES THAN ALL THE ROSES IN THE WORLD". We are blessed to have known him.
Left to mourn is his cherished friend Frank Madigan; his brother James Dalrymple of Georgetown, Texas; his nieces Deborah O'Donnell (John), Dawn Munroe (James), Diane Dalrymple (Mark), and Deirdre Yonkers (Gary); his nephews David Dalrymple (Meris), Derick Dalrymple (Elizabeth), James Dalrymple, Eric Dalrymple and Scott Dalrymple (Tori); many grand-nieces and grand-nephews, and their children; and loving cousins Sandra Gazzola (Mark) and Barbara Ann Cox (Wayne), both of Canada. The McKeon Family, formerly of North Albany, were life-long friends. Jack was predeceased by his parents; his brothers Alexander J. "Eric" Dalrymple and Allen Dalrymple; and his adored sisters-in-law Dolores Dalrymple and Ina Dalrymple.
Many thanks to the staff at Evergreen Commons for their kind and devoted care.
