COLONIE – Jacob J. Haas, Jr., 65, passed away on Wednesday, June 30, 2010, surrounded by his family, after a brief battle with cancer. Born in Albany, he was the son of the late Jacob J. and Anna Haas, Sr. He was a Colonie resident for all of his life. Jake was a graduate of Colonie High School and one if their first 12 letterman. Mr. Haas was a U.S. Army veteran serving his country during the Viet Nam War. He was a self-employed general contractor for many years. Jake was a member of the Joseph E. Zaloga American Legion Post #1520 and was a communicant of Christ Our Light Catholic Church. He enjoyed playing darts and bocce, doing Sudoku puzzles, horse racing and golfing. Jake will always be remembered as having a great sense of humor and always willing to lend a hand. He is the beloved husband of 42 years to June E. Haas. He is the devoted father of June A. (Andrew) Faragon, Jacob J. (Jane) Haas, III, Joseph M. (Christina) Haas, Jason R. (Maria) Haas, Jarrod S. (Nina) Haas, Justin B. (Lori) Haas and Jessica H. Haas. He is the loving brother of William (Kathy) Haas. Jacob is the cherished grandfather of Andrew, Alexis, Michael, Jordan, Jensen, Joseph, Sophie, Jason, Zachary, Jeremy, Mackenzie, Joey, Jaden, Jullian, Jagger, Justin, Caden, Ava and the late Julia Rose. Jake gives a final farewell to all of his West Albany "pals"!
Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Friday morning from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at New Comer-Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave). A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00 p.m. at Christ Our Light Catholic Church (formerly St. Francis de Sales) in Loudonville.
