ALBANY –Jacqueline A. Barnes, 92 of Albany, formerly of Tomkins Cove, NY, died
peacefully in her sleep on February 9, 2013, at Baptist Health Center in Scotia,
NY. Born July 18, 1920 in New York, NY, she is predeceased by her parents, Jack and
Agnes Kopf and her late and devoted husband of 59 years Richard.
She is survived by her sister, Betty Kopf of Phoenix, AZ; daughter, Linda Altshul
and husband Alan of Valrico, FL; son, Leigh Barnes and wife Debra of Nyack, NY;
granddaughter Carolyn Strand and husband David of Cohoes, NY; and two great
grandchildren, Connor and Riley.
Jacqueline was a loving daughter, wife, mother and grandmother. She and
Richard were married in 1941 and they moved into their new home in Tomkins Cove
four years later when Richard returned from his WW II Army service. Once her two
children were in school, she started a 20 year career working at Letchworth Village in
Thiells, NY where she became the first Supervisor of Volunteer Services. By far, her
favorite lifetime activity was shopping. She will be forever missed by her loving family
and friends.
The family will hold a private memorial service.
