Albany – Jacqueline "Jackie" Margaret O'Connell, 85, passed away on Saturday June 21, 2014 at Community Hospice Inn at St. Peter's Hospital. Born August 31, 1928 in Brooklyn, NY she is the daughter of the late Roy and Catherine Hetticher. Jacqueline has resided in Colonie, NY for the past fifteen years and previously resided in Cocoa, FL for five years. From 1950-1994 she resided in Merrick, Long Island.
Jackie was predeceased by her love and husband of 40 years Thomas J. O'Connell in 1987, and her son Thomas M. O'Connell in 1996. She is survived by her five beloved children, Kathleen F. (Bob) Nelson, Daniel C. (Joann) O'Connell, Teresa A. (Frank) Voltaggio, Anita M. (Ron) Zito, and Raymond J. (Allyson) O'Connell; and her beloved grandchildren, Kristen (Doug) McBride, Kerri French, Thomas A. (Jessica) O'Connell, Daniel (Tina) O'Connell, Christopher (Jodi) O'Connell, Marie (Frederic) Hairson, David Voltaggio, Matthew Zito, Daniel Zito, Christina Zito, Kaitlyn O'Connell and Ryan O'Connell. She is also survived by 7 great grandchildren.
Jackie was a member of Christ Our Light Church, Colonie Village Senior Citizens, and sang in musical groups for both. She enjoyed playing the organ, writing, reading, arts and crafts, and crocheting.
Calling hours for Jacqueline will be Wednesday June 25th from 4 – 7 p.m. at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd. Colonie, NY 12205. A second wake will be held on Thursday June 26th from 7 – 9:30 p.m. at Mangano Funeral Home, 1701 Deer Park Ave., Deer Park L.I. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday June 27th at 10:15 a.m. at St. Cyril and Methodius Church in Deer Park. Interment will follow at Calverton National Cemetery on Long Island.
